But in the case of these pups, the goggles – they do nothing!

Lord Byron’s Poem To His Dog

Perhaps one of the most influence poets of the period of English Romanticism, Lord Byron’s passion for his art was matched for his passion for his dog, Boatswain. A dear companion, Boatswain passed away in 1808, and in his honor Byron penned the following poem, which is inscribed on Boatswain’s tomb at Newstead Abbey (which, incidentally, is larger than Byron’s). A monumental tribute to the bond between owner and dog, I hope that this poem warms your heart, whether you have a furry friend or not! (more…)
