How much would you spend on your sick pup?

July 25th, 2010 | by Sweetie The Papillon

In the US, nearly 75 million dogs are treated by the best medicine as more dog owners consider their furry friends as a major component in making their lives better. So it would make sense for dog owners to find the best medicine when their pooch become sick. According to the ASPCA, Americans spent $12 billion in vet bills, which has doubled in the past 10 years.

Certain medical procedures which aren’t approved on humans, can be used to treat animals that may otherwise die. For instance stem cell transplants can assist in healing pets’ painful arthritic joints. Emergency veterinarian hospitals across the country have started to use surgical techniques in treating cancers that were once reserved for people. With cancer considered the leading cause of death in dogs, TomoTherapy assists in precisely delivering radiation to the needed area without injuring nearby tissue and vital organs.

Of course with these high-tech procedures to save our darling pets, comes a heavy cost. However wouldn’t you want to see your pup suffer less with the use of these sophisticated medical treatments?
