Safe Outdoor Summer Fun With Pooches

July 31st, 2010 | by Sweetie The Papillon

Whether you’re heading to the beach or the trails during the hot summer days, consider your pup’s comfort. Common sense reminds you to avoid strenuous activity during the hottest hours of the day. Try hiking in the shade instead of the sun’s direct path.

If you’re lounging at the beach or pool, be sure to place your pooch under an umbrella to avoid her getting sunburned.

Summer concerts can be popular dog-friendly venues, though be aware of any pesticides on the lawn. Noisy crowds can stress out any dog, so check in with your dog & evaluate her temperament.

Regardless what your summer activities may be with your dog, please carry plenty of water and a water bowl and allow for many mini-rest stops. If your best friends does overheat, seek the shade, apply cold towels along her body and get to the vet immediately.
