Cats vs. Dogs? The Ever-lasting Question of Who’s A Better Pet

Are dogs smarter than cats? Which has better hearing? According to New Scientist Magazine, both pets’ hearings are far stronger than humans. However a cat’s auditory range (45 to 64,000 hertz) is far wider than that of dogs’ (67 and 45,000 hertz).

In popularity, cats win. There are over 200 million cats worldwide, compared to 170 million dogs.

But when it comes to training a cat or a dog, scientists don’t really know which pet is better.

Belgian Malinois are very bright and obedient with major territorial instincts. This breed is characteristically very healthy with no significant health concerns. They live for about 14 years and grow to 65 lbs. They were named after the Belgian city Malines and are generally used in the military for their strong, athletic and powerful size.

5 Tips for A Dog-Friendly Household

Dogs are fantastic, but they don’t mix with everything. It’s generally considered a pretty poor idea to leave your 100 pound boxer alone in a room with your finest china. Or to give your feisty Dalmatian free reign in your pantry. Or to leave a mischievous little terrier alone with the wires that connect your laptop, desktop, air-conditioner, iHome, and printer-scanner-fax.

Those were all (I should hope) fairly intuitive. Here are 5 tips for making your home a dog-friendly environment that you might not have considered:

1.) Don’t Want to Share a Bed? Give a Bed!: Try purchasing or building a special sleeping spot for your sleeping Spot. Not only will it cut down on their attempts to jump up onto your slumbering oasis, it will allow them to have a place they can feel ownership over. A small, raised bed designed just for your pooch can keep him happy – and fur out of your covers. Try going to a supply store to get one!

We’ve seen trained dogs sniff out hidden bombs and illegal drugs at airports and even locate bodies under earthquake ravaged towns. Now dogs are being trained in the UK to warn their diabetic owners when their blood-sugar levels are low. According to Reuters, dogs are taught to lick, wine or bark during their owners’ diabetic episodes.
