Runts of The Litter Vying to Take Home the ‘World’s Smallest Dog’ Title

Along the lines of our last blog post this post is about dog size. I recently read that there are a few dogs trying to take away the Guinness World Title of “World Smallest Dog” from a chihuahua named Heaven Sent Brandy.

There are 2 serious contenders in line for the title. This sounds very much like a heavyweight boxing match (*ahem* Tyson versus Hollyfield!). The first contender is a dog named Scooter, a 6-month old Maltese from New Zealand. This little runt is just over 3 inches tall from his feet to the top of his shoulder blade. Owner, Cheryl McKnight, believes that her “winner” will not grow any taller-thus dethroning the current title holder.

The second contender, a diminutive chihuahua-jack-russell terrier mix puppy named Tom Thumb from Scotland is in hopes of reigning “World Smallest.” Owner Archie Thomson hopes his little puny contender will not grow more than the current 4-inches, thus dethroning Heaven Sent Brandy’s 6 inches.

So what’s the deal with the teacup or is it a coffee mug?

But on a serious note, the breeding of such small dogs got me thinking, is this safe or even humane for the vanity of cuteness? What do you think? Please let me know by commenting below.

Not sure where you can find one!

But you can always adopt a tiny tea-cup sized puppy, probably not as small as these though (but tiny either way).
