Malaysia is a highly open, upper-middle income economy. The country was one of 13 countries identified by the Commission on Growth and Development to have recorded average growth of more than 7 percent per year for 25 years or more. Economic growth was inclusive, as Malaysia also succeeded in nearly eradicating poverty.
BR1M or “Bantuan Rakyat 1 Malaysia” program is devised by Prime Minster Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as part of Government effort to ease burden of lower income group in Malaysia. The Barisan National Government has always been listening to plight of the poor people and thus a program has to be devised to help the lower income group cushion the high cost of living in Malaysia.
BR1M programme, is also know as “1 Malaysia People’s Aid”, started on 2012 as part or Barisan Nasional Government effort to assist the low income earners in Malaysia.
BR1M is also part of Barisan Nasional Government ETP (Economic Transformation Program) to turn Malaysia into a high income nation.
The implementation of BR1M program was announced by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Budget 2012 presentation. The government will give a one time RM 500 BR1M assistance to eligible rakyat as part of Barisan Nasional government’s effort to reduce cost of living faced by the rakyat.

The people who are eligible are:

BR1M 2018 Program Goal Dilemma’s.
People say that any form of government assistance encourages dependence and fatigue in the long run. Some comment that there should be a balanced incentive effort. Some point out that supporters should be more comprehensive.
The government is said to have its own goal of achieving similarity. However, the challenge is that resources for these goals are often limited. This is why the government must think clearly in determining which objective should be prioritized.
For some people, BR1M is a good form to allocate money and some people think that maybe the government can come up with some alternatives.
Other Options For Cash Aid.
Cash can be regarded as the most flexible and resilient aid method. The government can choose another method that is more beneficial, but of course, that resilience can also cause more problems among critics.
BR1M is able to have a positive impact on the economy of the country. Cash distribution has a long-term positive impact or does not depend on BR1M’s own receivers.
BR1M is not as powerful as the response of some Malaysians. But it cannot be denied that money given by the government is not enough. Hopefully, more family members appreciate BR1M in 2018.
