        It is undoubtedly the most perfected form that offers the most reliable finish of all. On the contrary, it demands a more laborious process. There are single-sided and double-sided plates.         Depending on the material the plate is made of, we can distinguish three fundamental types:

  • Bakelite
  • Fiberglass
  • Teflon

        The most used is the fiberglass type, for its quality and economy. Bakelite is in a clear recession, since it is more fragile than the others and of worse quality.

        Teflon plates are really good, but also very expensive. They are of high mechanical resistance, and best of all, they do not have that tendency to absorb the moisture that the other types have (hygroscopy) and that, given the short distances between track and track, can cause some problem of undesirable conductivity. On the other hand, Teflon is a good dielectric, which implies that it is a good insulator. Not surprisingly, it is used as an insulator in conductors of a certain quality.

        Fiberglass ones are the most used, since they offer good mechanical resistance and insulation, and are relatively inexpensive.

        To obtain the copper tracks, you have to attack the plate with the appropriate substances, which will eliminate the part of copper that is not part of the tracks. This is achieved by protecting said parts from corrosion. For this, special inks, varnishes or adhesives are used. Special inks are permanent or indelible ink markers, type “lumocolor” or similar, which are easy to obtain at stationery stores or electronics stores. The varnishes are part of the photosensitive plates, and the adhesives are supplied in the form of stickers in the form of pads and tracks of different sizes and thicknesses.

        The normal plate is one that draws the track directly on the copper. We can draw with an indelible marker, or with appropriate stickers.

        The photosensitive plate has a varnish that is sensitive to light, which is impressed by a sunscreen or any other suitable light source. Normally, it is more sensitive to light that contains UVA (ultraviolet type A) which is what the sun’s rays have. Therefore, insolation can be done by exposing it to sunlight, but it has the disadvantage of its inaccuracy, since it will depend on the angle of incidence (time of day), the weather (clouds), season of the year in which we find ourselves, as well as geographical latitude.
